1.What fields do you focus on for quality assurance?

We focus on five fields.

First, terminology. Since we can interact with clients, terms are the fruit of proofreading and confirmation between clients’ experts/engineers and translators as time goes on. We develop glossaries for each client and every product. The terms are professional.

Second, wording. IndusTrans has always been holding the philosophy of “assigning the appropriate article to the appropriate translator”, and even “assigning the appropriate segment to the appropriate translator”. We assign tasks reasonably because some projects may cover a lot of sectors.

Third, language. All language experts of IndusTrans can polish languages according to the idiom. We can achieve fluency in language and excellence in words.

Fourth, desktop publishing. We have in-house developed tools for desktop publishing. Our DTP persons can DTP work carefully according to the codes of both the source language and the target language.

Fifth, we have developed consistency verifying tool which can guarantee correctness of numbers, parameters and models, because input errors are inevitable even though translators are very careful.

A project team of IndusTrans consists of a project manager, software localization engineers, expert team, translators, QA experts DTP persons and other supporting staff members (including IT, Finance, and Administration).

5.Please explain the standard translation process of IndusTrans.

(1) Project manager makes an offer.
Project manager is the only contact between Industrans and the client, in charge of coordinating the translation supervisor, translators, proofreaders and DTP persons.
(2) Arrange a translation supervisor for the project
We arrange a translation supervisor for the project according to the specific requirements of the project and the field. The supervisor is responsible for providing pre-job training for translators and DTP persons.
(3) Extract terms
Industrans will extract key terms from the original text and thus establish a glossary for each project. Our translation resource of the expert team will translate key terms and submit them to the client for review.
(4) Document processing
Our DTP department will convert PDF files, scanned and faxed pictures, source files for typography, help files, xml or html files into formats that can be edited by translators.
(5) Professional translation
The translation supervisor of the project will make a feasible schedule based on the progress and requirements of translation. He will split the file based on the field, designate the term base and the translation memory and organize translation and DTP at the same time according to the schedule. Translators raise a list of questions which will be answered by proofreaders or the client.
(6) (Work-in-Progress Review (WIP))
The translation supervisor of the project will organize review based on the progress and requirements of translation, answer questions raised by translators and deliver feedback.
We review a sample representing 10-15% of all material before translators complete the remaining 85-90%. If there are general issues of tone/style/terminology, it is far more efficient if they are captured here than after all material has been translated and ready for review.
(7) Language polishing and consistency checking
Translators who are skilled in language will polish the language and do the compiling work. Consistency checking mainly focuses on the consistency between the original text and the translation work in terms of numbers, parameters, models, etc.
(8) DTP
DTP can be conducted along with translation so as to save time. Unless otherwise required by the client, DTP will be performed in accordance with Industrans DTP Guide
(9) Client reviews and confirms the work.
After DTP, the final work will be delivered to the client for review. The client will give feedback for further modification.
(10) Update the term base and the translation memory
We’ll update the term base and the translation memory according to details of the project and the client’s feedback.

13.How will IndusTrans organize such a big project as ours?

We’ll discuss with each client to develop a feasible schedule to control each process and the deadline, arrange translators and DTP persons according to the schedule, and provide the pre-job training in terms of terminology, technical principles, linguistic style and the DTP format. We’ll update and submit the schedule to the client on a regular basis, such as one week. Generally, a team of 10 translators or so is arranged for a big project. We mainly focus on control of translation schedule and consistency in terminology and linguistic style. Of course, number of translators can be increased according to the project and the schedule.

14.Our project is urgent. Do you charge extra fees for that?

No. We never charge extra for fast service. If the deadline is too tight to complete the project, charging more would not help to improve it. If we can manage to meet your deadline, we will not charge you any extra fees.

15.Do you accept testing?

We accept testing within 1000 characters not from a single paragraph. It needs to be pointed out that testing is not the only criterion for choosing a translation supplier because sometimes the testing result can only represent the ability of one translator rather than the whole team. With in-house technologies, tools and ever-improving processes, IndusTrans can optimize the quality which will not be different from translator to translator.

16.Can you assign translators or interpreters for us to provide field service?

Yes.
